Overview:
Most advice-seeking today happens in slow, indirect ways content searches, introductions through networks, or long consulting engagements. None of that helps when a founder, operator, or executive needs a quick second opinion from someone who has already dealt with a similar situation.
ConEx Global was meant to close that gap. The idea was simple on the surface: match a business challenge with the right expert and enable a direct phone conversation, without fees or complicated processes. The hard part was making that feel reliable, credible, and genuinely useful after the first few uses.
Our job wasn’t just to build the app. It was to help shape a system that people would actually trust when they needed real input, not generic advice.
Understanding Real Use, Not Ideal Use
We spent time mapping how people actually look for advice under pressure, not how they say they do in theory. That shaped both the product and the matching approach.
Designing Around Conversations
Every screen and interaction was designed to support one outcome: a useful phone conversation. Anything that didn’t contribute to that was removed.
Building and Testing in Short Cycles
We built quickly, tested early, and adjusted based on how users behaved, not just what they said.
Refining Based on Early Patterns
As usage grew, we fine-tuned matching signals and flows to reduce friction and improve conversation quality.
The Problem
What we kept hearing early on was frustration. Leaders didn’t want more platforms, more profiles, or more messages to manage. They wanted to speak to someone who had “been there” and could help them think through a problem quickly.
At the same time, experts were open to sharing knowledge, but not in ways that felt spammy or time-wasting. Existing platforms either pushed too much noise or made conversations feel transactional.
The challenge was to design something that respected both sides’ time, while still working fast enough to be useful.
Our Role
- Studying how leaders actually seek advice
- Shaping a product flow that stays clear
- Prioritizing match quality over scale
- Making sure every call and interaction works reliably
Project Challenges
Keeping the App Simple Without Making It Vague
We had to resist the temptation to over-engineer the experience. The fewer steps users had to take, the more pressure each step carried to be meaningful.
Avoiding “Random Match” Fatigue
Poor matches would quickly break trust. A lot of effort went into deciding what information mattered and what didn’t.
Making Real-Time Conversations Feel Natural
Calls had to feel like a natural next step, not something forced or awkward. That influenced everything from notifications to timing logic.
Results
These outcomes became clear only after the platform was in active use. They reflect how well the product performed when timing, relevance, and trust actually mattered.
Faster, More Relevant Connections
Users were able to reach suitable experts quickly, often in minutes, rather than relying on referrals or extended searches.
Better Quality Conversations
Since matches were tighter, discussions were more focused and actionable, instead of exploratory or generic.
Early Trust in the Platform
Both business users and experts continued to return, which told us the experience was solving a real problem, not just offering a novel idea.
How The App Helps Global Leaders Today
ConEx Global worked because it stayed grounded in how decisions actually get made. It didn’t try to replace consulting, content, or networks it filled a gap those options often leave open.
For us, the success of this project wasn’t in the feature list, but in seeing people use the app when something important was on the line. That’s usually the clearest signal that a product is doing its job.
